Ganbara’s cool donation supports Indigenous health

Ganbara’s donation of an industrial air conditioner to a Far West Coast community has provided health and well-being benefits.

Ganbara Facility Services recently made a very cool donation of two industrial air conditioners to support Indigenous health outcomes on the Far West Coast of South Australia.

With Ganbara’s mission being to support the communities in which we live, work and play, a donation of two industrial air conditioners to Ceduna’s Yadu Health Aboriginal Corporation seemed a breezy way to help.

Ganbara general manager Marius Liddle said he was delighted the cool donation helped keep important Far West community services operating during the warmest part of the summer, while supporting Indigenous health outcomes.

"This sort of donation is the essence of Ganbara, supporting the communities who work with us. We could see the benefits and the value these air conditioner units would provide to Indigenous health outcomes on the Far West Coast, and we were only too happy to provide that support."

Yadu Health’s Warren Miller said the air-conditioners are used in a local gym to keep the facility operational during summer and ensure ongoing wellness and health outcomes for the local Indigenous community.

“As a not-for-profit organisation that relies on government funding to operate, Yadu Health maintains the gym and its equipment but we’re not in a position to purchase these units by ourselves, so we’re very thankful for this support,” Warren said.

“The gym offers weekly programs/classes and is used regularly by a broad Indigenous cohort including the elderly and youth.

“While we haven’t had the hottest summer this year, the gym can still get very warm, so it’s been wonderful to be able to help keep everyone cool while they’re sweating it out.”

Yadu Health is a non-profit, community controlled Aboriginal health service providing a primary health service to the Aboriginal community of Ceduna, Koonibba and the surrounding district through the provision of doctors (GPs), nurses, visiting specialists, and supporting Aboriginal health workers.
