Indigenous Procurement Policy

The government's Indigenous Procurement Policy aims to advance Indigenous business and employment throughout the Commonwealth.

The Indigenous Procurement Policy introduced by the Australian government in 2015 aims to award 3% of all Commonwealth contracts to Indigenous enterprises by 2020. It’s a program designed to create more job opportunities for Indigenous Aussies; research indicates that Indigenous businesses are 100 times more likely to employ an Indigenous person.

This initiative has already had an impressive impact, greatly exceeding interim forecasts and targets, awarding contracts worth $154.1 million to Indigenous businesses since commencement of the policy.

If the launch of the IPP is any indication of its long-term success, it’s our hope that this program will continue to aid the Indigenous business sector in providing wealth and opportunities to the Indigenous community.
